Piero, Alexis And Valentina.

We interviewed an American person (Unkown)
He came to Chile because he had two options to travel, Chile or Colombia. He chose Chile because here is Los Angeles and he knows some people of that city.
He told us the following answers:
Mr. John Doe:
He claimed that he was amazed about the hills and the houses on it. Also he liked the architecture of the structures, the art on the walls, and the painted trash track, because he thought that is a way to express the freedom of the city after the dictatorship. In addition, he felt sad about the history of the country in the time of the dictatorship and the abandoned prison of jail hill and the things that happened there.
Besides, he felt comfortable with us, for he put forward that Chileans are nice, kind, and friendly people, he thought that because we were willing to answer any of their doubts including the best restaurants to eat. He denoted that his favorite dishes were: Porotos con Rienda, Empanadas, and Cazuela, but he wants taste more. One of the important things that he noted to us was that he wants to come back to Chile, for he had a beautiful experience.

We think that although they felt comfortable here, we need to improve our services and streets, we must make a change cleaning our city, taking care of the monuments and the patrimony of humanity. We need to give them more confidence and help them in every thing that we can, because they arrived here with the best expectative about us and we can't disappoint them. It is very important that we try to communicate with them, because for us is necessary the communication.

  1. I liked the analysis that he gives to the artistic expression of the walls of Valparaiso and as he said to show a lively and cheerful city despite their stories as the ex prison. Good thing that the US tourists has a good experience in Chile are carried because in most of the interviews they are well received by the Chileans, but in most cases of the tourists and immigrants, Peruvian, Bolivians, Colombians, among others, they are discriminated and treated like thieves only by their culture or skin color and I think we should treat them the same as they treated John (in this case).

  2. I think too Mr. John because much Chileans doesn’t worry of monuments or heritages but there are people who are worried, because are volunteer or are paid but we, the Chileans can improve this, we can increase the volunteers or experts about this topic, so the tourists or ourselves can have a good life, a good view of our heritages. Finally I think that we can make a change, we can gift a good holydays to tourists and for ourselves.

  4. I think that the tourist travel to Chile for look the famous houses in the hills or for look a monuments, the murals, the famous places like the houses of Pablo Neruda (La Sebastiana) places with high cultural and artistic value some even internationally known, reason that tourists come, but the Chileans sometimes don’t be careful and this is a big problem but we can fix.
The gastronomy it is another reason why tourists come because it is much appreciated, and is nothing more that Chileans should care.

  6. As you guys said, we should take care of our country, especially because Viña del Mar and Valparaíso are full of tourism, and some people always left with the first impression. Actually, it’s so great that tourists take good impressions of Chilean people, but also on the other hand, we treat the tourists like they were ‘’superior’’ than ourselves, but that is not how Chileans treat immigrants and that is what we should change that, we should be more emphatic and conscious.

  7. The culture here is one of the most important things that we have, so if we take care of our monuments, we probably will give them a good impression, and also that can tell them that we are accepting that they come here to see our beautiful country. As you said, we have to give them more confidence and we have to be more helpful, because in the future we could be in another country and we probably will need help from the citizens there.

  8. I think Chile is a country like many tourists, we have places, meals, etc. that tourists calls attention, and I think as we look after our Chilean culture, our environment, I think if we all contribute a grain of sand this country would be much more attractive for tourists, and also think you have to have a readiness to help, is everyone's responsibility to John Doe as more tourists come and meet this beautiful country.
